"Splendors of Shiga: Treasures from Japan," consists of more than 75 different pieces of Japanese art.

The exhibit opened in January with the first of its three-part series, featuring art that represented winter. And now, we've moved on to part two to celebrate the arrival of Spring!

The newest installment of the exhibit opens Saturday and features a new set of screen and scroll paintings, kimono, Buddhist statuary, porcelains and tea ceremony objects.

This version of the display will be up until June 4.

Certain items like kimonos and other clothing items will change out as the seasons change, but other parts of the exhibit will be displayed throughout the entire three-part run.

This exhibit was five years in the making, and according to the folks at Meijer Gardens, it was all made possible through Michigan's 46-year-old sister-state relationship with the Japanese prefecture of Shiga. Generally, pieces like the ones found in this exhibit never leave Japan.

Meijer Gardens will open its $22 million Japanese Garden in June, and is celebrating Japanese art and culture leading up to the opening.
