If Purchase Price Wasn’t A Factor, Would You Drive An Electric Car? – Poll Of The Day

Facebook

Electric cars have come a long way, but they are not without their problems.  Limited range, higher price, and low availability are among the bigger issues.

Electric cars still have a ways to go, but if purchase price wasn’t a factor, would you be interested in driving one today?

The 2012 Ford Focus Electric was just certified as having the equivalent of 110 mpg.  That’s more than the Nissan Leaf, making it the most fuel efficient 5-passenger car in the U.S.  However, the Ford Focus Electric can only go 76 miles on a single charge.  That’s not enough for a round trip to work for many.

Price is also a major concern.  The Ford Focus Electric starts at $40k, that’s before the $7,500 federal tax credit.  The traditional Ford Focus starts closer to $18k.  That’s about a 2-for-1 deal.

Production and sales have been down for many reasons.  Is it more than just the price?  Let us know.
