If you love the look and feel of newspaper ink all over your fingertips, you are going to have to work a little harder to get it soon.  The Grand Rapids Press is cutting home delivery to three days a week.

It's a sign of the times and shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the Grand Rapids Press is cutting back on home delivery.  Starting February 2, the paper will be delivered to homes only on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

The Grand Rapids Press will still be printed on the other four days of the week, but will only be available at newsstands on those days.  The price of Monday - Saturday issues will go to $1.

Why does the Grand Rapids Press need to cut delivery?  One of the biggest problems with printed newspapers today is timeliness.  Our expectation of news is different than it used to be.  We don't want to know after it happens.  We want to know as it happens.  Much of the content of a printed newspaper is outdated by the time it hits the newsstand or gets to your house.  There will still be great features, calendars, and coupons.  But the days of breaking news via a printed newspaper are gone.

Will you miss seven days of home delivery?
