Long Time Grand Rapids Meteorologist Announces Friday Will Be Her Last Day On Air

We've seen a lot of local news talent leaving the Grand Rapids and West Michigan area, and sadly, it seems we're saying goodbye to someone who has been on our TVs for over 35 years.

She started her career at WBAY-TV in Green Bay, and then later joined the WoodTV team in 1992 after spending 2 years in West Michigan getting an additional degree so that she could become a meteorologist.

After nearly 30 years with WOOD TV8 and over 35 years in the local news industry, Terri DeBoer is bidding her viewers farewell this week, saying that her final on-air appearance will be on Friday.

Where is Terri DeBoer going?

Terri says that she plans to shift her focus towards the launch of her own publishing company. She also wants to start engaging in professional coaching, and dedicating more time to her growing family.

In fact, this summer, one of Terri's daughters got married, and the other welcomed Terri's second grandson. So, she wants to spend a little more time with them, and who could blame her?

And Terri also had some heartfelt words for those who are wishing her well in the next chapter of her career

My retirement from broadcasting will allow me to spend more time with my family; especially my aging parents and my sweet grandsons [...] Time goes by so fast!

This week, WoodTV8 plans to play some of her best moments leading into her final broadcast on Friday, and we wish her well. Thanks for keeping us ahead of the snow and rain all of these years, Terri. You'll be missed.
