Ferris State University Hockey lost in the national championship game to Boston College 4-1 on Saturday night.

Ferris State was down 2-1 until Boston College scored with 3 minutes left, then added an empty net goal later.

The game was televised nationally on ESPN 2.

It's a disappointing final game, but it is hard to be too disappointed.  At the beginning of the season, a finish like this seemed very unlikely.

This was not supposed to be a dream season for Ferris State. The Bulldogs lost two All-Americas from a squad that finished 18-16-5. They were picked to finish in a tie for seventh out of 11 CCHA teams in the preseason media poll.

The conference coaches had even less faith in the Bulldogs, picking them to finish ninth.

Ferris State proved the critics wrong.  FSU would eventually become the #1 ranked team in the country in all three major polls.  Coach Bob Daniels was named the national Coach of the Year. And, of course the Bulldogs made their way to the Frozen Four and appeared in the National Championship game.

Congratulations to Ferris State University Hockey on an amazing season!
