If you're like me, you recently logged into your Windows 7 computer and noticed an icon that looked more like Windows 8 on the bottom right of the screen, near the clock. That's no mistake, that's Windows 10!

The download for Windows 10 is not yet available, but users are able to reserve the free upgrade by clicking the above mentioned icon. The actual update will be available July 29.

So what's different?

Microsoft claims Windows 10 will "start fast, resume[s] fast, and comes with more security features than ever."

The operating system will include Cortana, which is similar to Apple's Siri or Android's Google Now. Microsoft will also make Word, PowerPoint and OneNote available free directly from the Windows Store.

Windows 8 users were upset when they noticed the start menu disappeared when they upgraded from Windows 7, no worries, the start menu is back in Windows 10.

What's appealing to me is the system is toted as fast and free. I am using Windows 7 on my personal laptop, and sometimes it feels a bit too heavy. If Microsoft successfully takes a page from Google and lightens up their operating system, I'm game! Then again it's free, and who can argue with free?
