"The Osbournes" Is Coming Back . . . for a Multi-Episode "Update"

It's been 10 years since "The Osbournes" went off the air, but on "The Talk" yesterday, SHARON OSBOURNE announced that they're bringing it back as a six- to eight-episode "update" so viewers can catch up on their lives.

Interestingly enough, it was OZZY'S idea. Sharon said he told her he wished they could've done the show when he was clean and sober, like he is now.  And apparently, that got the ball rolling.

The show will begin production early next year, but it's unclear when or where it'll air.  Supposedly, it's NOT coming back to MTV.  (Here's video of Sharon making the announcement.)

Randy Jackson Is Leaving "American Idol" . . . for Real This Time

RANDY JACKSON will NOT be back on "American Idol" next season . . . for REAL this time.  He says, quote, "After 13 seasons, I felt now was the perfect time to leave.  I'm proud to have been a part of [it]."

It sounds like his departure WILL stick this time.  Last year, he said he was leaving after being dropped from the judging panel.  Then, he changed his mind, and came back as a mentor, replacing Jimmy Iovine.

This leaves RYAN SEACREST as the sole remaining link to the original season, which premiered back in June of 2002.

Spotify Claims Taylor Swift Is Leaving $6 Million a Year on the Table By Abandoning the Service

HIGHLIGHTS:  Spotify claims TAYLOR SWIFT is leaving a ton of money on the table by abandoning the service.  They say, quote, "At our current size, payouts for a top artist likeTaylor are on track to exceed $6 million a year, and that's only growing . . . we expect that number to double again in a year."

FULL STORY:  Spotify claims TAYLOR SWIFT is leaving a ton of money on the table by abandoning the service.  Which is odd, because fair compensation is one of the main reasons Taylor said she no longer wanted to participate in the Spotify "experiment."

Spotify is defending their business model in a post on their website, saying that piracy is the real enemy . . . because artists make nothing off of that, while Spotify has paid out "more than TWO BILLION DOLLARS" for the rights to distribute music.

As for Taylor, Spotify says, quote, "At our current size, payouts for a top artist like Taylor, before she pulled her catalog, are on track to exceed $6 million a year, and that's only growing . . . we expect that number to double again in a year.

"Any way you cut it, one thing is clear . . . we're paying an enormous amount of money to labels and publishers for distribution to artists and songwriters, and significantly more than any other streaming service."

Spotify Claims Taylor Swift Is Leaving $6 Million a Year on the Table By Abandoning the Service  (continued)

It's worth noting that they aren't paying Taylordirectly, and that parallels some recent pro-Spotify comments BONO made this week, about there needing to be more transparency in the music business about where the money is going.

It's a long article, but the main idea is:  Spotify wants to help promote more transparency . . . but they believe their payouts are fair, and that the service is actually helping to get people to pay artists for music again in the digital age.

They also point out that while Taylorsold more than 1.2 million copies of her new album, "1989", in its first week . . . it was also #1 in illegal downloads last week.

(You can read the whole thing at Spotify.com.  Yes, it's just one side of the story, but since we've heard so much about how Spotify is CHEATING artists with marginal payouts, it's definitely worth a read.)

Speaking of Taylor Swift, here are a few other items you might find interesting:

1.  It's just been revealed that she'll be featured on BARBARA WALTER'S annual "10 Most Fascinating People" special.  She joins the previously announced "fascinating" people:  Oprah Winfrey, Neil Patrick Harris, Chelsea Handler, and Scarlett Johansson.  The special will air on December 14th.

2.  Taylorlooks a lot different on the cover of "Wonderland" magazine.

3.  If you haven't seen it yet, an old clip of her singing the National Anthem at an NBA game in 2002 is making the rounds again.  She was only 12 at the time.

Nicki Minaj Is Sorry for Nazi-Like Images in Her New Video, But the Director Isn't

HIGHLIGHTS:  NICKI MINAJ is apologizing for the Nazi-like imagery in her new lyric video for "Only".  She Tweeted, quote, "I'm very sorry and take full responsibility if it has offended anyone.  I'd never condone Nazism in my art."  But the director of the video is not apologizing.

FULL STORY:  NICKI MINAJ is apologizing for the Nazi-like imagery in her new lyric video for "Only".  In a series of Tweets, she said, quote, "The artist who made [it] was influenced by Cartoon Network's 'Metalocalypse' and 'Sin City'.

"Both the producer and the person in charge of overseeing [it] . . . happen to be Jewish . . . I didn't come up with the concept, but I'm very sorry and take full responsibility if it has offended anyone.  I'd never condone Nazism in my art."

(BE CAREFUL if you watch the lyric video.  It's littered with uncensored profanity and explicit sexual references.)

Meanwhile, the director of the video, Jeffrey Osborne, admitted that it features Nazi imagery . . . but he doesn't care if you're offended.

He said, quote, "First, I'm not apologizing for my work, nor will I dodge the immediate question.  The flags, armbands, and gas mask, and perhaps my use of symmetry, are all representative of Nazis.

"As far as an explanation, I think it's actually important to remind younger generations of atrocities that occurred in the past as a way to prevent them from happening in the future.

"If my work is misinterpreted because it's not a sappy tearjerker . . . sorry I'm not sorry.  What else is trending?"  (You can find his full response, here.)
