This was a great weekend for local festivals, from the Festival of the Arts to the Local First Street Party. The 13th Annual Local First Street Party happened Saturday afternoon/evening in front of Bella Vita Bistro, downtown and was a good time, even despite the rain that continued to fall throughout the evening.  The Local First Street Party had everything that represents our local community, from Founders providing the local brews to food trucks offering some of the best food West Michigan has to offer and of course, let’s not forget about the Michigan musicians that entertained the crowd.

They had music for pretty much everyone from students performing from the Triumph Music Academy to The Voice finalist Joshua Davis, who headlined the event.

Do you remember Joshua? He’s from Lansing and made it to the finale last spring on The Voice; he was on Adam Levine’s team. He also was a true Michigander while on the show, making sure the country knew how great the talent coming out of Michigan really is.  Saturday his set reminded us just how good the Lansing native is. He’s got a very laid back folk rock/blues sound and even though he didn’t play any covers, his music is very familiar sounding and a great treat on Saturday night.

I highly recommend downloading his music and enjoying it this summer while relaxing on the lake or a laid back night at home.
