Closed for the season in late Fall, this past Friday, March 1st, the John Ball Zoo opened for the 2013 season.
Channel 95-7 will be broadcasting live at John Ball Zoo Wednesday starting at 11 am for Tiger Day at the Zoo. John Ball Zoo is attempting to bring a world class Tiger exhibit to Grand Rapids in 2014, and Wednesday we kick off that campaign.
So, 95-7 received some free passes to John Ball Zoo to give away on air today, and I wanted to call and get some information about hours. While I was on the phone with the zoo, they informed me that tomorrow, Adults, Seniors, and kids overs the age of 3 will all get in for the price of one buck.
The John Ball Park Zoo has undergone a ton of improvements in preparation for their 2012 season. Not only have they added some new animals, like a baby camel. But, they've also upgraded some of their facilities including the entrance plaza and gift shop, and added the Bissel Tree House, an indoor event space that's expected to open in August for weddings, corporate events, and the like. It's 'Monarch Madness' at John Ball Zoo on Saturday.
Over 300 Monarch butterflies will be tagged and released. Anyone attending may enter a drawing for the chance to hand release the butterflies.
Meet Mr. Snuggles and John Ball Zoo Director, Bert Vescolani. Bert brought Mr. Snuggles into the Channel 957 studio to show you and me how adorable he is and to remind pet owners what a big responsibility it is to own and care for a pet. Mr. Snuggles was given to John Ball through the Humane Society and is now part of the petting zoo.

I can't remember the last time I've had so much fun with a group of genuine, loving people who came from all parts of the state of Michigan to walk and raise money for the Easter Seals.
Last night, $63,000 was raised to help kids and families meet some of their financial needs as they continue to receive necessary treatment for autism, Down Syndrome and/or cerebral palsy.
