Last week saw flu levels return to normal across Michigan in every region except for one. The "central" region, which includes West Michigan, reported the highest rate of flu-like symptoms in the state last week.

We've been looking for good news about flu season for a long time in West Michigan and across the entire state. We may finally have it.

After hitting the lowest level since mid-December last week, reports of flu-like symptoms in the latest report have climbed up once again.

Flu activity continues to increase across the United States and in Michigan. The eastern half of the country has been particularly hard hit.  A couple of Michigan's neighbors are the most active states in the country, Illinois and Ohio. Let's take a closer look at current flu activity across West Michigan.

The flu season has not peaked in West Michigan, so there is still time to protect yourself! Flu.gov says: Vaccination is the best protection against contracting the flu. Everyone 6 months of age and older should get vaccinated against the flu as soon as the 2010-2011 season vaccine is available in your area...
