Forest Hills Northern Students Music Video a Winner (video)

Life as a teenager is tough.  Teenagers have parents who are stupid...or so my girls said to me...classmates who may, or may not, accept them, the wanting to be in the "right crowd."

Well, students at Forest Hills Northern High School, here in Grand Rapids are addressing that, and put together a great video.  Using Katy Perry's song, "Roar," I think they 'knocked it out of the park' with their look at bullying, acceptance and believing in who you are.

Local High School Makes Antibullying Video

I stumbled upon this the other day, you may or may not know I work with middle schools coaching cross country and track. I used to work at Allendale Middle School and saw this pop up in my news feed on facebook. It's a video made by the students of Allendale High School to the song by Katy Perry, "Roar" promoting anti-bullying. I thought it was a pretty cool find and considering it was done by just the students, I thought I would give it a share!

Wisconsin News Anchor Responds On-Air To Email Telling Her She’s Too Fat For TV [Video]

I am so inspired by this video, and this woman. With bullying in the news so much, we tend to think that it only happens between children. But, there is such a thing in the adult world, too, and it happened to news anchor Jennifer Livingston of WKBT in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. A viewer wrote her an email claiming that she was setting a poor example for young people in the community because she is overweight. While Jennifer tried to laugh it off, several other people in the news media could not, including her husband, news anchor Mike Thompson.

Disturbing Trend: Asking “Am I Ugly?”

This almost makes me sick to my stomach.

Remember when being bullied, picked on or being called ugly at school meant it ONLY happened at school? Then, you could (mostly) forget it when you went home? Now kids have Facebook where others taunt and harass them, write nasty things and call them ugly

Words Are Worse Than Sticks and Stones [Video]

I don't know if kids these days are bullied more than kids were in the past, or if it's just getting more attention these days. I’ve never been bullied, but my guess is that if you haven’t experienced it, then you probably don’t often stop to think about how big of a problem it is. The video below is all too real for those who have had to deal with being bullied on a daily basis. Parents are being encouraged more and more to discuss bullying with their children. You never know… your kid could be getting bullied… or he could be the bully.
