Part of the uniqueness of the anthology series, and why watching a show as sadistic and gruesome as AHS can be so fun and addictive, is the gap between us and what happens on screen. Who doesn’t love hearing a good ghost story, so long it’s not happening to them? But in its seventh year, American Horror Story pivots from fables of supernatural nightmares to satirize the real-world political fears of Trump’s America, and it’s the series’ biggest mistake yet.

American Horror Story may have returned to more traditional teasing with Cult, but the FX drama has one major difference from past years. Ryan Murphy reveals that Season 7 will have no supernatural forces, while new details reveal Lena Dunham’s role and more.

FX has officially picked up an additional two seasons of American Horror Story, likely taking us through at least 2019. Just like our real-life American horror story!

Now that American Horror Story Season 6 has officially given up the ghost of its mystery theme, FX must take stock of their unorthodox approach to promotion. It seems viewers may not have been enticed to tune in for the big reveal after all, as early ratings for American Horror Story: Roanoke (that’s the name, we checked) are below that of last year’s Hotel.
