From elusive chanteuse to festival fixture, Sia is returning to a stage near you.

After a half decade since her last outing, the enduring Adelaide-born belter has finally decided to grace audiences across the world once again with her booming voice and now signature stage routines, complete with intricate interpretive choreography, minimal set design and, of course, plenty 'o wigs.

Last night's show at Boston Calling Music Festival (May 27) marked one of many dates to come for the "Chandelier" singer ahead of the Nostalgic For The Present Tour, having recently made a splash in the desert at Coachella as one of the festival's most critically lauded performances. (Many decided she unofficially "won" Coachella, in fact.)

Just as with her Coachella gig, Sia came to City Hall Plaza armed with a fleet of bewigged dancers, a giant white bow, a voice even bigger and a story to tell.

Kicking off to the sound of the crowd chanting "Sia! Sia! Sia!" in unison, the powerhouse singer-songwriter worked through a set heavy with selections from her latest albums This Is Acting and 1000 Forms of Fear, including "Alive," "Unstoppable," "Elastic Heart," "Move Your Body" and international smash "Cheap Thrills" — but not without several older fan favorites sprinkled in, including her gorgeous original version of her Rihanna song "Diamonds," a ballad version of her David Guetta collaboration "Titanium," and a shiver-inducing rendition of the song that started it all on a mainstream level: "Breathe Me."

The unique triumph of Sia's career pours out in the tightly crafted show: this is an artist who has written songs for everyone from Beyoncé to Britney Spears, who has dominated the charts with her own smash hits and has maintained the strictest creative control over every facet of her career — and the thousands of people lining the plaza and peering from ledges surrounding the area to watch, some of whom donned Sia wigs and T-shirts, were proof that her impact is utterly massive.

It was a bit of an emotional experience to watch all this go down in such superstar fashion, considering this was the same giggly, goofy woman I saw exactly six years ago in Boston on the We Meaning You Tour at the House of Blues. She's one of the biggest stars in the world now, and she's doing it on her own terms...as a piece of art.

"It's so intimate and artistic but something everyone can appreciate," a woman standing beside me explained to her boyfriend as Sia effortlessly belted her way through "Bird Set Free." And that, in a nutshell, is the Sia experience.
