A recent study by Nielsen has shown that radio delivered an average of $8:$1 return on advertising spend. 

The studies cover mass retailers, department stores, mass merchandise stores, telco’s, retailers, home improvement stores, snacks, beer, soft drinks, candy, quick service restaurants, and a breakfast bar.

Nielsen does not disclose the name of the brands for confidentiality reasons.

Most results were measured over a minimum of a 3 month sales period.

The studies compared target consumers who were exposed to radio advertising with consumers who weren’t, and tracked the actual purchases for both groups via their credit and debit card transactions for 125 million unique cardholders.
