Plaza Towers Residents Can Move Back In Starting Wednesday Afternoon
Residents of Plaza Towers in downtown Grand Rapids who have been displaced from their apartments since the early morning on April 20 will be able to move back into their homes starting at 3pm today.
According to a post on Plaza Towers’ Facebook page, residents will be given welcome packets, new parking passes, and more when they return. They were displaced from their homes when the rising Grand River spilled into the underground parking structure, and caused extensive damage.
We are happy to announce that the building will reopen this afternoon. Residents may move back in starting at 3pm. The city has granted us temporary occupancy which means that we can reopen and operate while we are under construction. There should be no interruptions in this occupancy permit.
We will have apartment management staff on hand in the apartment 1st floor lobby starting at 3pm to hand out welcome packets that include new parking permits, information sheets and access codes for entrance doors. The apartment leasing offices will be open until 7pm tonight. Phone services are still being restored but you can still call 776-3300 and leave a message if you have any questions.
The basement will continue to be closed and has become a construction site. We have obtained alternative parking in the Louis Campau parking ramp for all apartment residents. Please see one of our management team members to get your parking card for this lot. Residents may park there as soon as they come back.
At this point we have only one elevator working in the apartment space, we appreciate your patience as we continue to work on repairs to the other elevators.
The Security Office is temporary located in the former Turner Construction space in the retail building facing the river. New signs are being made. Look for the temporary directional signage throughout the property. All of the Security services you received in the basement are now available in the temporary office. Packages will continue to be checked in and received at this temporary location.
We appreciate all the patience and understanding that all the residents of the Plaza Towers community displayed during this difficult situation.
