Early this morning former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was released from prison.  Kilpatrick had served 14 months for violating probation.  Kilpatrick had 28 cents in his pocket when he left prison and was picked up in a Cadillac Escalade.

Kilpatrick has been visiting with family and connecting with fans via social media since being released.

Here's more from freep.com:

Attorney James Thomas, who is representing Kilpatrick in the case and was with him at the federal courthouse this morning,  said he expects Kilpatrick to make regular trips back to Detroit in preparation for his trial.  But for now, he’s focusing on reuniting with his family.

Thomas said Kilpatrick also hopes to go on a speaking tour, and return to Detroit to sign his book, "Surrendered: The Rise, Fall & Resurrection of Kwame Kilpatrick."

Kilpatrick still owes over $800,000 to Detroit.  A judge has ruled that Kilpatrick cannot profit from the book and money made must go into an escrow account.

Kilpatrick's book is currently scheduled to be released on August 9.  Sorry, I can't tell you what section to look in at the bookstore.  The book is likely filled with fiction and non-fiction.  The problem is only Kwame knows which parts are which.
