Kids Really Do Say The Dardest Things
I’ve heard that phrase used a lot of times in my life, and was never quite sure what people were referring to. Perhaps that is because I don’t have kids, so I miss these gems of wisdom pouring forth from their little kool-aid stained mouths. Or maybe it’s just because I haven’t taken the time to listen.
I encountered two examples of this over the weekend while spending time around some of my friends and their children.
Example One: My friend’s two children (ages 4 and 5) were hanging out with us on Saturday afternoon when the five-year-old said, “I wish I had a million dollars”. His four-year-old sister followed up quickly with “I wish I had twenty-two gummie bears!”. Different kids have different priorities, I suppose. I would take either one of those things.
Example Two: Another friend was having a conversation with her son regarding religion. He asked, “Momma, when did Jesus die?” She responded with, “A long, long time ago”. Her son, without skipping a beat, then asked, “Like in the 80’s?!?” I suppose for him, not having been alive then, the 80’s were a long, long time ago. Not so much for those of us who grew up during them.
What are some of the fun, funny or just plain cute things your kids have said?
