Ice Sculpting Competition In Holland This Weekend
It barely feels like winter, but it’s time for Holland’s annual January ice competition.
Every year, Holland partners with the National Ice Carving Association (who knew there was such a thing?) to host a collegiate carving competition.
Over 20 students will compete starting with a 300 pound block of ice. They will use chainsaws, picks, torches and more to create their work. And with competitors coming in from all over the country, the show must go on even if temps are less than ideal.
The competition is in Downtown Holland begins today from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. There will be more on Saturday, from 12:30pm – 4:30pm. Once complete, the sculptures will remain on display the entire weekend. Considering some of the weather we’ve had recently, you may want to get there early.
