A few weeks ago I told you about a new series on Amazon Prime you have to check out, I finished the series over the weekend and it’s more phenomenal than I originally mentioned. First thing is first, DO NOT read any further if you don’t want spoilers.

I repeat, SPOILERS for the Man in the High Castle are coming!

First, the trailer...

I mentioned this alternate history drama in a post I did about the top 5 shows you need to binge this winter. You can read that here.

Well, this weekend I was able to make my way through all 10 episodes and I am not disappointed. Could you imagine if the Nazi’s won World War II? That’s what this is about. In a nutshell the United States is divided between Nazi Germany and the Japanese. Japan controls everything west of the Rockies and the Nazis control everything east, with the lawless neutral zone in between. It follows a couple different storylines. One of a double agent Nazi spy trying to find newsreels (more on this later), and the other of the Japanese trade minister who is trying to conspire with a Nazi soldier to prevent a war.

Honestly, just the setting of this show is amazing. It’s like typical 60’s Americana, but instead of a “good morning” you hear a “Heil Hilter,” remember this is set about a decade after the war so people have become custom to this new world. It’s eerie. The talk about liberating America during World War II, the celebration of VA day (which marked the day the Nazi won & is celebrated like Independence Day), and the talk of FDR’s assassination all set an extremely uncomfortable tone.

The first story line about the double agent Nazi spy and the newsreels still has a ton of unanswered questions. The reels show the United States winning the war, and for some reason the United States resistance needs to get them to the man in the high castle. Are these tapes real? Are they there to just show how things could be? According to the show, Hitler like watching the reels. At the very end of the final episode they show Hilter watching the films in a castle in some mountains. Is he the man in the high castle? I mean, the resistance's goal is to restore America to how it was. Is the resistance unknowingly working for Hitler? Hopefully we will find out in season 2.

What about the trade minister and the Nazi soldier? We should point out that Hitler’s health is failing in this universe, similar to how FDR’s health was. They even hide it the same way. Anyway, the Japanese trade minister is working with a Nazi soldier to prevent war, as Hilter is somehow keeping peace between the Japanese and Germans. The fear is the new Nazi leader would try to take over Japan’s territory in America. Toward the end of the final episode we see the trade minister standing on an American street in OUR America. What? Does this have something to do with the reels?

So many questions at the end, there better be a season 2! In the meantime, I ordered the book. I’ll let you know how that goes!
