The woman who is arguably the most famous mother in America right now and one of our favorite people is opening up about the actions that have put her in the spotlight.

Toya Graham became a sensation after she smacked her 16-year-old son in the head on live TV when she spotted him contributing to the rioting that has overtaken the city in the wake of the death of Freddie Gray.

Graham, a single mother of six, explained why she did what she did in an interview with CBS News:

That's my only son and at the end of the day I don't want him to be a Freddie Gray."

Graham managed to corral her son and bring him home, where they watched coverage of the riots on TV. She also claims she heard through social media how many people stood behind what she did.

Graham also said it's important for mothers to set a good example for their kids. "You can talk blue in your face to your children, but at the end of the day they gonna make their own decisions," she said. "As parents we just have to follow through to make sure that's where they supposed to be at."
