Here’s A New Diet Idea…

Thinkstock/ Amy Walters

Count your bites, NOT  your calories.

Let me first start by saying NOTHING works better than eating clean and working out.  I understand we sometimes need different ways to get the same result.

So, how about this method?

Researchers at Clemson University in South Carolina say stop counting calories and just count how many bites of food you take per day. Your limit, 100 bites.

They found that men eat an average of 17 calories per bite and women eat an average of 11 per bite. So, at 100 bites, men would eat 1,700 calories or women would eat 1,100. Those numbers are low enough to shed a pound or two a week.

They say you should chew each bite 10 to 20 times, and avoid taking in calories that you don’t have to bite; like milkshakes, or pop.

No matter which way you decide to do it, a calorie deficit is how you lose weight.

I keep track with an app called My Fitness Pal. It allows me to track my nutrition for the day and it gives me a good idea of how many calories I’ve burned when I work out. You do this long enough, and you’ll eventually get a good estimate of how you’re doing without any apps, or calories counting.
