Staying in Grand Rapids over spring break is a little easier this year. Our warm March has already given us a taste of summer making missing out on a trip south easier to handle than most years. The trick is to have fun while keeping the kids busy over spring break in Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids Art Museum
GRAM's spring break programming runs from 10:00am - 3:00pm Tuesday, April 3 - Friday, April 6. Participants will explore the abstract art of Stuart Davis as they design and create colorful puzzles.

Star Wars Day at Grand Rapids Library
Use this as an opportunity to teach to your kids that Chewbacca is 100 times cooler than Jar Jar Binks. All ages will enjoy Jedi Warrior trials, creating a light saber, and more. Star Wars Day is free and open to all. It will take place at Grand Rapids Public Library's Main Library downtown on Saturday, April 7 at 3:00pm.

'Draw On!' at UICA
Draw On! is a community art event which takes place across the country during spring break. It began in Connecticut in 2006. The idea is simple: bring all ages together to experience drawing. You'll find drawings on the sidewalk, windows, and walls. Learn to draw flip books, comics, and more. Draw On! runs every day now through April 7 from Noon - 6:00pm. Admission is free.

The Aquatic Adventures Of Johnny Starfish And The Mermaids by Grand Rapids Ballet
Johnny Starfish is a special 30 minute ballet for kids that will run at Peter Martin Wege Theatre over spring break. Shows start at 11:30am Tuesday, April 3 - Saturday, April 7. There is a second 1:30pm show on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7. Tickets are $5 each and includes special pre-show activities.

Zoobilee at John Ball Zoo
John Ball Park Zoo's spring break Zoobilee runs Monday, April 2 - Friday, April 6 from 10:00am - 2:00pm each day. Kids will enjoy special crafts, games, and chances to meet animals up close. Zoobilee provides an excellent educational opportunity for both children and adults.
