Gas Leak In Spring Lake Closes Road And Causes Evacuations

The Ottawa County Sheriff Department is saying that M-104 near Buchanan is currently closed due to a gas leak in the area.

Michigan Gas Utilities has said that some nearby homes and businesses have been evacuated as a precaution. These include the village hall and the local Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office building.

The leak occured Wednesday when a construction crew hit a gas line in the area of M-104 and Buchanan Street. Those streets have been closed as crews work to contain the leak.

It is unknown how long it will take to repair the leak so that people may return to their homes and offices.
