Ford Pulls Ad After Call From White House [VIDEO]

Have you seen the ad?
A Ford customer talks about how he wasn’t going to buy a car from a company that was “bailed out by our government”.  He was going to get a car from a company that was “standing on their own:  win, lose, or draw.  That’s what America’s about”.
Ford has pulled the ad after questioning from the White House.
The ad criticizes those who took bailout money and led to Ford receiving “a call from the White House” according to has more:
Ford pulled the ad after individuals inside the White House questioned whether the copy was publicly denigrating the controversial bailout policy CEO Alan Mulally repeatedly supported in the dark days of late 2008, in early ’09 and again when the ad flap arose.
Who were these individuals at the White House?  And whose direction were they acting under?
You can make the argument that Ford supported the bailouts and shouldn’t have tried to capitalize on them.  That’s not the major concern to me.  Our government putting pressure on the advertising habits of a company IS a major concern.
Ford commented today:
For those asking, the ad ran as part of a planned rotation and continues to run online. It contains the unscripted comments of a Ford owner. We supported emergency government support for our competitors and continue to support the decisions we made.
So wait.  Ford says they were going to pull it anyway?  I’m not sure who to believe.  This is the stuff political movies and conspiracy theories are made of.
See the ad for yourself.
