Air Force Staff Sgt. Joseph Weems, 24, died on May 14 after being hit by a train. He was riding his bicycle near Ramstein Air Base in Germany. After six years of service, Weems was planning to exit the Air Force and return home yesterday.
Weems was a 2005 graduate of Byron Center High School.

The economy, in its current state, doesn't make it very easy for people to find jobs anywhere. And the job market in Michigan has been pretty terrible for a while, but according to Forbes magazine, people in Grand Rapids have had an easier time than others at creating job opportunities for the unemployed to become employed again.
Saugatuck's Waterfront Film Festival returns June 14 - June 17. The festival is well-known for its quality of films, having been named one of the top five film festivals in the world by the Screen Actors Guild Magazine.
