A Kalamazoo woman is driving around in her beat-up SUV with official looking stickers that read: “Kalamazoo County Department of Zombie Removal”,  When I came across this story on NPR, I had to dig a little deeper, as did the Kalamazoo Police!

22 year old Western Michigan University Senior Emily Midling says she watched too many zombie movies and decided to buy a 1998 Ford Explorer and put the decals on the doors for no other reason than to see what kind of reactions she would get.  She also added,

“It seemed like a really good idea at the time”,  Midling went on to say, “for me it’s just the idea of like, going about your day and like, all of of sudden oh crap, there’s zombies.  And just the idea that it could happen, and how people would react to it.”

So far, the Kalamazoo Police have just asked her about it, but it apparently IS legal.  I called the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safely for their take on this.  They had no comment.  Apparently there are a couple people who had the same idea.  The Portage Department of Zombie Removal, even the Michigan Department of Zombie Removal.  Personally, I’m waiting for the Grand Rapids Department of Zombie Removal.  I think I know a few suspicious people who just may be zombies.  If no one does it, I just might!

There is an article and a short video on Mlive.com/Kalamazoo Gazette about this story if you would like to read more.
