Still sore over Zayn Malik's departure from One Direction? You can look to the cosmos while placing blame.

The "PILLOWTALK" singer, who officially left the group in March 2015 after five years, has now confirmed that it wasn't creative differences or issues with management that inspired his flying the coop. No, it was an alien that spoke to him in a dream, he told Glamour in a quick Q&A segment published yesterday (July 12).

Seriously, he said it:

"An alien spoke to me in a dream…"

Sure, Malik's previously said in a public note that he needed time away from the band to recover from stress. And yes, he declared on a separate occasion that 1D's indie rock inclinations eventually drove him away — but don't put real stock in that either. Zayn Malik officially left One Direction per an extraterrestrial's advisement. Independence Day's fallout is a comparative cakewalk.

For good measure, here are a couple of other admissions the onetime bionic-armed Malik made: He first felt like an adult "yesterday," his life's ambition is to "invent something" and his most memorable sense of failure came after "wearing pastel." Oh, and his mother is the first person he calls in the morning, which is kind of sweet, actually.

Down with especially influential dream-aliens.
