Your iPad May Be Causing That Weird Rash You Have
Do you have a new, unexplained rash? Turns out that your iPad may be the culprit. Experts are saying that the tablets may contain nickel, one of the most common allergy-inducing metals.
Recent reports in medical journals detail nickel allergies from a variety of personal electronic devices, which include many laptops and cellphones. But it was an iPad that caused a body rash in an 11-year-old boy that was recently treated at a San Diego hospital, according to a report in Monday’s Pediatrics.
Nickel rashes can be uncomfortable, but they’re not life threatening by any means. Doctors DO say that they may require treatment with steroids and antibiotics if the skin eruptions become infected.
Whether all iPad models and other Apple devices contain nickel is uncertain, and folks from Apple have yet to comment on this situation.
Nickel is contained in a lot of other common products like jewelry, eyeglass frames and zippers.
