When I first read a headline about this video, I was angered. Assuming the worst, I trudged forward to see if I'd be proven wrong. And I was.

Watch what happens when Italian media fanpage.it asked young boys to slap a girl they had just met.

Fanpage.it say that they created the video to show how both violence and pacifism can be taught at an early age.

The boys are introduced to Martina. When asked to caress her, the boys do not hesitate to stroke her cheek in a gesture of intimacy. When asked to make a funny face at her, they do that willingly.

When the boys are asked to slap Martina, however, they all look surprised and confused. It's obvious that they're struggling. Torn between wanting to obey, and their own personal feelings on it. In the end, all of the boys eventually shake their heads at the camera crew and refuse to do it.

When asked why they wouldn't slap her, all of the boys responded that they didn't want to hurt her, or that they did not believe in violence, and all agreed that they should never hit girls.
