Even though plenty of people wear them daily, it doesn’t mean you should.  Originally Crocs were designed for people who spend time at the beach or on boats.  Somewhere along the line, the ultimate comfortableness of Crocs crossed over to the mainstream. Since their launch in 2002 they have sold more than 300 million of the quick to slip-on shoes and most of those people wear them daily; not just around the house or lake.

A Podiatrist in Chicago, Dr. Megan Leahy told Huffington Post, you shouldn’t be wearing Crocs all the time:

“Unfortunately Crocs are not suitable for all-day use...” While she granted that they “offer nice arch support,” she added that the real reason you shouldn’t wear them over long periods of time is that “these shoes do not adequately secure the heel. When the heel is unstable, toes tend to grip which can lead to tendinitis, worsening of toe deformities, nail problems, corns and calluses. The same thing can happen with flip flops or any backless shoes as the heel is not secured.”

Before you throw away the shoe altogether, it’s not all bad.  Dr. Leahy and others say just wear the shoes in short intervals... like around the house or to the lake, you know as they were originally meant. And just as your friends have suggested, don’t wear them every day or while hanging out with them!
