Saturday, the city of Ludington, more specifically, House of Flavors in Ludington set out to break the Guinness World Record for “longest ice cream dessert”.   The attempt Saturday was 2,970 feet long, or abourt 8 city blocks. The previous record was 1, 957 feet and 1 inch, and held by a city in New Zealand.

"We live in an amazing place in Ludington," said Barry Neal, third generation owner of House of Flavors. "We're not afraid to try big things. It really fills my heart to see this. It's great." -Mlive.com

Thousands of people came out to downtown Ludington for Saturdays epic sundae consisting of over 12,000 scoops of ice cream topped with 2,000 cherries and around 600 cans of whip cream.  After the sundae was constructed and the measuring was recorded, everyone got to eat!

It's not official yet, according to Mlive:

Several things needed to be accomplished in order for the record to be broken including official measurement and documentation. The dessert also had to be continuous in nature, covered with toppings and eaten completely.

Judging by the video below, it looks like they should be good!
