Woman Suing Her Husband After He Secretly Divorced Her

After 20 years of marriage you would think this couple has a strong relationship. Eh, maybe not so much.

59-year-old Cristina Carta Villa is suing her 90-year-old husband after learning he secretly divorced her only FOUR MONTHS after they were married. So how did it take so long before she found out? According to the New York Post, a tax bill arrived to their home, in November, and her name wasn't on the paperwork.

She hired a lawyer to investigate, only to learn that Gabriel had tried to remove her name from the deed..."

Apparently, the husband was weary of their (31 year) age difference, when they first got married, and wanted to protect his assets so he secretly divorced her in the Dominican Republic, even though they've been living in New York.

For 20 YEARS, Cristina thought she and her husband were living in marital bliss. She left her job for him after they met and they even had a son together. She is claiming the divorce is a fraud because she never gave consent to a divorce nor did she appear in court for it. She is also trying to stop him from selling their Manhattan apartment.
