When you’re as successful as Kanye West, you can make a lot of things true simply by saying them out loud. Luckily for Black Eyed Peas fans, not even Kanye can cause a band’s breakup by announcing it.

West caused a stir by telling the audience at his show last Friday that the BEP were no more, but according to the group’s frontman, will.i.am, the rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

“Rest in peace to the Black Eyed Peas. You’re gonna be missed,” shouted West from the stage at Austin City Limits last week, leading will.i.am to assure fans that nothing could be further from the truth.

The group’s leader wrote on Twitter, ”Maybe @kanyewest was stating the fact we will take a rest for a little bit…but we the @bep will never die…never…impossible.”

That last comment makes us wonder if the Black Eyed Peas are planning to transplant their brains into immortal cyborg bodies, but whether or not will.i.am misused the word “never,” fans can take comfort in the knowledge that the band’s current hiatus isn’t permanent. As he tweeted over the summer, “The @Bep will take a break after the beginning…just like we did from monkey business to the e.n.d…but it doesn’t mean we stop creating.”
