If you're putting down 20 miles a day in 0 degree weather, you probably already do these things.

But if you're more of a casual runner, like myself, these simple hacks might change your world when it comes to running.

I don't know about you but my body is ready for a solid outside run. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the gym, but given the choice, I would rather run trails than a treadmill.

The diehards won't let the cold weather stop them, but I can't do it. Trust me, I respect the guy or woman running through the snow when it's windy at 10 degrees. Once we get up to 40 degrees, I'll join in on the fun. Until then, it's training for the trails!

Here are some of the tips I'm going to put to use this spring, thanks to BuzzFeed:

  1. Drink a banana smoothie to help with muscle cramps
  2. Coffee will increase your endurance
  3. Tie your car key into your shoe laces
  4. Trick your body into running faster by focusing on an object in your path. Researchers say you will reach the object quicker and feel less tired.

Have fun!
