When was the last time you checked out the John Ball Zoo?  Granted I’ve only been in town a year, but I finally checked out the zoo and wish I would have done it sooner!

Admission to the zoo is awesome, $10; and it’s easy to spend 3 or 4 hours wandering around watching everything from turtle to monkeys, bears, tigers and all the creepy crawly things (like snakes and lizards) they also have penguins (although I ran out of time to go through the aquarium – but saw they have a 3:30p penguin feeding show.)  My favorite stop was the Budgie Aviary it’s a cage you can get in and feed the birds with a birdseed stick – they’re clumps birdseed glued on a popsicle stick for $1, definitely buy one of these and go in with the birds!

They also have the sky trail rope course, zip lining, and camel rides.

Ready to go to the zoo? John Ball Zoo’s open 7 days a week during the summer season, Monday through Friday 9 am – 4 pm; Saturday and Sunday the zoo stays open until 6 pm. John Ball Zoo is located at 1300 West Fulton, Grand Rapids.

Also, wear good shoes and be ready to walk up hill A LOT!
