When you think about your parents you don't see them as ever doing anything wrong. They're parents, they're boring. Not necessarily. They can have secrets, too. They, too, have a past.

I came across this article on Newser about how these two boys found out their parents were Russian spies. They seemed to be a normal American family until 2010 when their home got raided by the FBI and the parents were arrested. Obviously, the kids couldn't believe what had happened, but it was true. Their parents were spies and had been ever since they were in their 20's.

Have you ever found something out about your parents that completely shocked you? Probably nothing as crazy as being a Russian spy, but something that shocked you. Like you couldn't believe your Mom or Dad was capable of doing such a thing.

I don't have a story about my parents but I did find something out about my Grandpa long after he had passed away. Turns out that my Grandpa was in love with a woman for a very long time, even while he was married to my Grandma. He cheated on my Grandma with this woman and ended up having THREE kids with her. This is in addition to the five he had with my Grandma. This "other" family isn't really talked about much. I've never met them. I don't know them. But it was definitely weird to learn this shocking information about my Grandpa who you would never expect that from.

What did you learn about your parent(s) later in life?
