West Michigan Memorial Day Parades And Events

As you enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend, take time to honor and remember those who have died while serving our country.

West Michigan will be holding dozens of parades, memorial services, and other activities over the next several days.

The majority of events take place on Monday, but some are as soon as today.  Check out the long list of events below from mlive.com and enjoy your holiday weekend!

May 23

Flag Placing at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 300 Monroe Ave. NE. 5:30 pm.

May 25

Flag Placing at Grandville Cemetery, Grandville Cemetery, 3570 Prairie St. 6 pm.

May 25 & 26

Free Open House for Active Military Families and Veterans, Deanna’s Playhouse, 11172 Adams St. 10 am—3 pm. Call 396-7566.

May 26

May 28

Allendale Township Memorial Day, Pine Grove Cemetery, 6200 Vinton Avenue NW. 11 am.

American Legion Caledonia Memorial Post #305 Memorial Day Activities, Alaska Cemetery, 9 am; Blain Cemetery, 9:45 am; Dutton Cemetery, 10:30 am; and Holy Corners, 11:15 am. Parade at noon from Main Street to Caledonia Lakeside Cemetery.

American Legion Post 451 Cascade Township Memorial Day Celebration, KDL Cascade Branch, 2870 Jack Smith Ave. 10 a.m. May 28 Coopersville Memorial Day Parade, Main Street in downtown Coopersville to Veterans Parks, 245 W. Randall St. 9 am, parade; 9:30 am ,dedication ceremony at park.

Dorr Memorial Observances, St. Stanislaus, 8:45 am: Richter, 9:30 am; Dorr, 10:15 am; Jones, 11 am; Sproat, 11:45. May 28 Dorr’s American Legion Post #127 Memorial Picnic and Horseshoe Tournament, American Legion Post #127, 4310 18th St., Dorr. 1—5 pm.

Georgetown Township Memorial Day Activities, Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St. 8 am. Memorial service at township cemetery, on 28th Street between Rosewood Street and Port Sheldon Road, 11 am.

Grandville Memorial Day Activities
, Wedgewood Park, on Wilson next to the middle school. 9:15 am. to Grandville Cemetery, 3570 Prairie St., for Memorial Service.

Holland Memorial Day Parade, Starting at 8th and Central. 9:30 am. Veterans encouraged to participate. Call 392-2993.

Hudsonville Memorial Day Observance, Hudsonville Veteran’s Park, corner of 32nd Avenue and Central Boulevard. 10 am.

Jamestown Memorial Day Activities, Jamestown Baptist Church, 2472 Quincy St., Jamestown. 10 am parade. Flea Market from 8 am—2 pm. Celebrate Community Festival, 11 am—1 pm. Call 896-9542.

Daniel Waters Cassard American Legion Post #208 Kentwood Memorial Day Parade, DAV building, intersection of 48th Street and Eastern Avenue to Veterans Memorial Park, 355 48th St. SE. 10 am.

Marne Memorial Day, Berlin Fair Grounds, 2008 Berlin Fair Drive. 10 am. Parade, heads to Veterans Park for a short memorial service. Special honors to long-time parade organizer Rodney Prys and Father of Bill Zink of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Call 677-1869.

Martin Memorial Day Parade, Martin High School, 1556 Chalmers, Martin. 10 am.

Ostego’s Memorial Day Parade, Mountain Home Cemetery, Ostego area. 9 am. Call 269/377-3099.

Rockford Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony, Community Cabin, 220 N. Monroe St. for 7:30 am parade; 9:45 am ceremony Rockford Cemetery; 10:50 am ceremony and wreath laying at Merritt Lamb Post . Visit www.rockfordlegion.org or call 866-2001.

Sparta Memorial Day Ceremony, Lamoreaux Park, 150 Park St., Sparta. 11 am.

Walker Memorial Day, Lake Michigan Drive between Lincoln Lawns and St. Clair Street NW. Noon. The speaker is Mark Bowditch, senior pastor at Family of Christ Lutheran Church and a major in the Naval Reserves. Call 735-6286.

10th Annual Veteran’s Free Troop Train, Coopersivlle & Marne Railway, downtown Coopersville. 11 am and 1:30 pm. Free/veterans, $8.50/non-veterans. Call www.coopersvilleandmarne.org

Wayland VFW Memorial Day Parade, Downtown Wayland. 11 am. Parade starts at the Michigan State Police post on Main Street.

May 30

Grand Rapids Memorial Day Parade, Starting on Division Street and Michigan Avenue to Veterans Park, Fulton Street and Sheldon Boulevard. 7:30 pm. Service at park.
