So, last week, I decided to sign up to run a 5K. I'll be running the Grand Rapids Color Run on August 5th, and figured this weekend that I should probably start training.

Sunday, even though it was pretty hot outside, seemed like the perfect day to begin my training regiment. The thing is, I don't really have a training regiment. I'm just kind of winging it. I figured for day 1, I'd just run until I got tired and then stop. Seemed simple enough.

Well, towards the end of the day, I realized that I needed to go to the store to pick some stuff up, so I laced up my shoes, put in my headphones, and set off on a "run". The store is two blocks from my house. So, I ran there. I didn't run fast, and I didn't run far, but I ran.

Unfortunately, I couldn't run back from the store, as my hands were full (of beer and cigarettes. Healthy, I know), so I used the two block trek back to my house as a cool down.

I know it's not the greatest start to my training, but at least it's a start. I'm looking into this "Couch to 5K" thing you guys keep telling me about. I'll keep you updated on my progress.
