I know a lot of people love Pinterest. They use it to find ideas for decorating their home, planning their wedding, styling their hair, things to make for dinner, and sometimes, beauty tips. I'm a sporadic pinner, but I decided to try something that I found on Pinterest the other night. It's a scrub made from sugar, oil, and citrus juice that's supposed to give you the smoothest legs ever. See how it went after the jump.

What do you need to make this magic scrub? Well, just things that we all generally have around the house. I decided to half the recipe, because it seemed like it made quite a bit, and I knew I didn't want to have to deal with the leftovers. 1 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of oil (I used olive, I think you can use any kind), and 3 tablespoons of citrus juice. I used lemon.

Then comes the process of soaking, exfoliating, and shaving your legs. Here's what they say to do:

  1. Soak your legs for 5 minutes.
  2. Shave your legs as normal.
  3. Rub your legs with the sugar/oil/citrus mixture.
  4. Rinse.
  5. Shave your legs (yes, again).
  6. Scrub your legs again.
  7. Rinse.
  8. Get out of the shower, dry off, and then apply lotion,

According to Pinterest, the first time you shave your legs, it will obviously take off the hair. When you exfoliate, you will take off all of the dead skin and dirt (gross), and the second time you shave, you'll be removing that (gross again).

While my legs did seem significantly smoother than normal, I mostly felt like I'd been basted, and also extremely slimy. And the smoothness didn't last long. After I showered again the next morning, the softness was gone.

Also, the greasy feeling made me make this face:

I suppose this is a good way to exfoliate your legs, but honestly, I think you can get the same result from any old exfoliating body wash.

I could have used that oil and sugar to make some delicious cookies.
