Hard cider has been rising in popularity over the last few years, and the best of the best (in my opinion anyway) is produced right here in Michigan. Tons of cider makers across the state take advantage of the amazing apples grown right here in the Mitten State to produce some of the best cider out there.

In celebration of that, the Michigan Cider Association in conjunction with Grand Rapids' Downtown Market will be hosting Michigan Cider Week events April 6 - 12.

I sat down with Andy Sietsema from Sietsema Orchards and Cider Mill to talk about the events, cider in general, and the newly formed Michigan Cider Association.

There will be dinners, tastings, pairings, classes, and seminars all about ciders!

Interested in learning how to make your own cider? There will be classes for that, too!

The culmination of the events will be on Sunday, April 12 at the Pyramid Scheme. Awards will be handed out following the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition that will be held here in town. Not only will great Michigan ciders be featured, there will also be ciders from all over the world!
