Weird News: Mother Concerned When Ice Cream Sandwich Doesn’t Melt
After her son left his ice cream sandwich outside in the heat, Christie Watson noticed the sandwich had barely melted. What’s with that?
The ‘food’ was a Walmart Great Value Ice Cream Sandwich, it was able to survive 12 hours in 80 degree weather! That doesn’t seem right, but when you look at what’s in the sandwich, it makes perfect sense.
Before we get to the Great Value ingredients, let me tell you about Christie’s experiment. She decided to buy some more ice cream to see if they too would survive after 12 hours in the heat.
She grabbed a cup of Haagen Dazs, a Klondike Bar and another Great Value sandwich; she set all three out in the sun. The result? The Haagen Dazs melted pretty quick, the Klondike mostly melted, but the Great Value sandwich only melted a bit, and still looked like a sandwich.
WCPO News reported the ingredients of each sample of ice cream.
*Walmart’s ingredient list includes corn syrup, guar gum, and cellulose gum.
*Unilever’s Klondike Bars’s ingredient list is very similar to Walmart’s, with similar gums added.
*Haagen Dazs contains just cream, milk, sugar, and eggs, and vanilla, but no corn syrup or gums of any type.
Nutritionists say there’s nothing wrong with the Great Value sandwiches, but if you’re going for clean eating, you might want to avoid something that can withstand that much time in heat!
