Wege Estate Items To Be Auctioned Off Wednesday

The estate of the late former Steelcase chairman Peter Wege is auctioning off items his home in East Grand Rapids. The auction will take place online on Wednesday. 

Wege was a major donor to organizations including the Grand Rapids Art Museum before his death in July at age 94. His estate will auction roughly 600 of his belongings in a public, online auction.

Items up for auction will include a 2010 Lincoln MKS and a Yamaha Mark III Disklavier baby grand piano. The auction will also feature Wege's sizable art collection.

Bidding on most of the items will start at $5, but some pieces will start around $100, such as a hand-knotted Oriental rug from the 1930s.

Most auction proceeds will go to the Wege Foundation for its charitable work.
