Subscribe to Channel 95.7 on

In the 1930’s a group of movie buffs got together and founded the Grand Rapids Amateur Movie Club.  he group would make short films that revolve around the city of Grand Rapids.

This film popped up on YouTube yesterday and is titled Grand Rapids ‘A Good Place To Live.’ It appears to be an unnarrated movie to promote tourism in the area.

According to the Grand Rapids Amateur Movie Club’s website the group of film hobbyists lived in Grand Rapids between the 1930s and 1970s.  Jack Baty, the grandson of the club’s librarian, Richard Baty, has inherited his grandfather’s library and is slowly digitizing all of the films for all to enjoy.  The website has dozens of films available to watch now and more and more are being added.
