Warning Issued For Lake Macatawa and Black River

According to WZZM 13, The Ottawa County Health Department is telling people to stay away from the Black River and Lake Macatawa.

A pumping station leaked around 50,000 gallons of raw sewage into the river, which then made it into the lake. They say that the overflow is due to a mechanical failure.

They took water samples on Monday and the results of those should be available later on today.

Until the advisory is lifted, the Health Department says that you should avoid all contact with the Black River and Lake Macatawa.
