It was just announced that beginning sometime this month you'll be able to have your Meijer groceries delivered to you! Best news EVER, if you're like me and grocery shopping is something you dread doing. But in order for this to work, you obviously have to have people who will take on the responsibility of delivering.

According to MLive, the company in charge of making this happen, Shipt, is expected to hire hundreds of West Michiganders to help out. 14 Meijer stores in West Michigan will be a part of the delivery service which means many people are needed!

This is a great way to make extra money on the side because you don't have to make it a full-time commitment. The process is going to be similar to an Uber driver where you make your own schedule. Once you do so, Shipt will offer you deliveries and you choose what one(s) you want to take. Simple as that! The best part is, you'll be getting paid anywhere from $17 to $20/hour plus tips, if customers choose to do so.

If you're interested you must meet the following requirements, which are posted on Shipt's website:

  • At least be 18-years-old.
  • Have reliable transportation and a current driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
  • Have an insulated cooler bag.
  • Familiar with using a smartphone and be comfortable with apps.

A background check will of course be required, too.

Shoppers are going to be needed 24/7, but the most requests will be coming in on the weekends. If you're a customer requesting a delivery, don't worry because unlike Uber, there won't be surge prices just because it's a busy time.

If you like money, working your own hours and don't mind playing bumper carts at the grocery store... you can begin your application process here.
