This morning my alarm went off around 8:30 a.m., that's when I remembered my vacation was over. No worries, I captured some photos to share with you, did you know Grand Rapids has an alter-ego in Ohio?

First off, I'm happy to be back. I typically take my vacations so they start and end midweek. Two short weeks? Sign me up!

I took off last Thursday for some camping along Burt's Lake in Indian River, about 15 minutes south of the Mackinac Bridge. Nothing better than waking up and seeing this out the screen of your tent!

From there it was back to my place here in GR on Friday to take care of a few school assignments, and then back on the road Saturday.

I headed east down 96, then south down 23 to my mom's house in Toledo. Spent some time with my family, and met some friends for a bonfire a bit later in the evening.

By the time Monday rolled around I realized it had been a few days since I had a good run. Did you know there is another Grand Rapids in Ohio? I spent a ton of time there as a kid. It's an old canal town that sits off the Maumee River. If you're ever driving through that area, I would suggest checking the town out.

So I drove 30 minutes southwest of Toledo to Grand Rapids for a good run around the canals, locks, dams and bridges. Easiest 4 miles I've ever ran, mainly because of the scenery.

Here's a look at the Erie Canal, you can actually take a ride in a canal boat pulled by mules. No joke!

My route took me through the ghost town of Providence, right next to the old mill. It's open today for historic demonstrations.

I took a bit of a rest to catch my breath and take in this view of the Maumee River dam.

Then I went back across the bridge to town. Check it out, they have a train bridge too!

I was able to finish up my run at the town clock in front of the old fire station.

So there it is! That's what I brought to show and tell today! By the way, if you're looking for a quick road trip, I highly suggest checking out Grand Rapids, Ohio during the Applebutter Festival in October. It's a very cool small town atmosphere.
