If you've never seen the Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform, don't even bother imagining what might unfold.

It is something seemingly beyond the realm of reality that is being brought to Grand Rapids for Trans-Siberian Orchestra's performances at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Van Andel Arena.

For starters, a massive backdrop featuring dozens of bright light streams illuminate a stage full of veteran musicians.

The progressive rock band was founded in 1996 by producer, composer and lyricist Paul O'Neill. He brought together Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli, both of Savatage, and keyboardist-co-producer Robert Kinkel to form TSO's creative team.

"The Christmas Attic" is the latest story that is being shared with TSO audiences, and it takes everyone on a fantastic and wonderful ride through the holiday season.

"Some of the songs off 'The Christmas Attic' have never been played live. As I have always said: 'It is fun to write the songs (and) it is fun to record them, but they are never really completed until we perform them in front of a live arena audience,'" O'Neil said.

The second half of the show features TSO classics and fan favorites such as "Wizards In Winter," "Requiem" and "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24.'"

Tickets are still available for both shows Sunday. They are available at Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place box offices; Ticketmaster ticket centers, including D&W Fresh Market and select Family Fare and Walmart stores; by phone at (800) 745-3000; or via Ticketmaster.
