This Is How The National Anthem Should Be Sung [Video]

A video recently popped up from the U.S.A. and Ghana match in the World Cup showing exactly how The Star Spangled Banner should be sung, by the people. This is beautiful!

It’s not that I have a problem with huge national recording artists singing our country’s national anthem, but when they sing it, I rarely feel the power or the pride that song was meant to create.

Now, when a crowd of thousands sing it, I feel that power, that same power that makes me thankful for being part of a free nation.

Yeah, we can argue politics all day; what’s right, what’s wrong, what needs to change, what needs to say the same, but when you boil it all down we’re all lucky to be part of something that allows us to dream and act on those dreams. It’s not perfect, but it’s home.

Here’s a random fact about ‘The Star Spangled Banner,’ did you know it was written to the tune of an old English drinking song? It was, it’s called “The Anacreontic Song.” I first heard about this when I was watching AMC’s ‘Turn‘. I noticed the British soldiers were drinking and singing this song that sounded very familiar. I did a little research and found out that my ears weren’t playing tricks on me.

While we’re on the topic of cool moments in our country’s national anthem, remember when the Boston Bruins fans took over?

Or what about the kid who accidentally dropped his symbol while performing the national anthem? What he did after he dropped it was great.
