It’s not very often that you are happy thieves broke into someone’s vehicle, but last week in Chicago, it actually saved a dogs life

Security footage from Chicago’s West Town Neighborhood shows four guys first walking by a truck parked on the street. The guys then return, smash out a window and steal a laptop from inside the truck. Now while usually this is a bad thing, this time it actually helped save a dogs life.  Inside the truck was a german Shepard, that was getting very close to death in the hot truck.

Declan Morgan, owner of the Irish Nobleman Pub who’s security camera caught the theft, told WGN TV

“If the window wasn’t broken the dog would probably be dead.”

“The dog was in the backseat. They didn’t realize the dog was in there. The windows were tinted in the back.”

No one realized the dog was in the truck until the owner returned to the vehicle.  According to Declan, the dog had been in the truck for 20 minutes before the thieves smashed the window.  It then took the owner of the truck another 40 minutes to return.  If they hadn’t smashed the window, the dog would have surely died in the hot vehicle.

Police say that no one called in the theft, probably because the owner of the truck realized what a moron he was for leaving his dog locked in a hot car during the summer or maybe not. According to Declan, when questioned, the driver said he had the air conditioning on before he got out of the truck (which doesn't help) and was more concerned about the broken window, rather than his dog being in a hot truck for over an hour.

Enjoy that laptop hero thieves.
