The Michigan State High School boy's basketball tournament is not for the faint of heart.

Grand Rapids Christian fans found that out last night when their team blew a 17 point lead down the stretch and were down to their final shot.

The Christian Eagles have been one of the dominate teams in Class A all season. I don't think they've won a game by less than 15 points all season.

But the tournament does funny things to good teams, just ask Godwin Heights, a Class B contender who went out in the opening round of regionals on Monday.

Last night in the Class A regional championship at Grand Haven, Christian was dominating West Ottawa when the Panthers went off on a 17-0 run to take the lead briefly before Christian tied the game and found itself with the ball and only two seconds left.

That's when Thad Shymanski threw up a prayer shot that swished through the net as the buzzer sounded, giving the Eagles a berth in the Elite Eight next Tuesday.

Here's a couple of views of the shot via Social Media.

First up is from Christian student Henry Breems who captures the estactic joy of the Eagle students section.

Next we have this post from Zeeland East coach Mike Fenlon, which gives you a good view of how off balance Shymanski was when he fired it up.
